Shaping the Future of Connectivity through Collaboration and Innovation

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the ITU-APT Foundation of India (IAFI).

Over the past year, IAFI has continued to strengthen its role as a platform connecting industry, government, academia and international organisations in shaping the future of telecommunications and ICT. Building on our active participation in ITU and APT activities, IAFI has significantly expanded its engagement in preparations for WRC-27, 6G and IMT-2030, satellite communications, spectrum management and emerging digital technologies.

Our recent initiatives have further broadened this engagement. We have brought together policymakers and industry leaders through the India Spectrum Management Conference and the India Space Policy Conference, organised preparatory workshops for WRC-27, and convened focused discussions on 6 GHz Wi-Fi, AI and telecom, cybersecurity and digital frauds. Our participation in APT and ITU processes has also contributed to important discussions on the future spectrum and technology ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region.

Looking ahead, IAFI will place particular emphasis on AI-enabled telecommunications and ICT, 5G-Advanced and 6G, next-generation satellite connectivity, spectrum innovation, Wi-Fi, cybersecurity and digital trust. We will continue to support India’s active participation in international standardisation and spectrum processes and work towards policies that encourage innovation, investment, affordable connectivity and a globally harmonised technology ecosystem.

IAFI’s recent recognition of Indian leadership in APT wireless activities, together with our initiatives on future 6G spectrum harmonisation towards a golden band 6525-8400 MHz, demonstrates the growing contribution that India and the Asia-Pacific region can make to the global digital future.

I invite our members, partners and the wider ICT community to join us in this journey. Together, through collaboration, informed policy and technological innovation, we can build a connected, inclusive, secure and sustainable digital future.
